Agnes Jorgensen’s Artist’s Statement: “My art is inspired by life, by the people around me and by all that is us. Creating art connects me to a beautiful place within myself where stories lay waiting for an opportunity to be expressed. Oil paints are my favourite medium. They have a richness and vibrancy yet warmth and luminescence that I am able to achieve by using the Old-Master technique. Throughout the buildup of each layer I strive to create an expression of feminine softness within my art to communicate emotion, a sense of harmony, depth and texture.”
Interesting Fact about Agnes Jorgensen: “Following our trip to Africa in 2008, my spouse Andre Chatelain, who is also an artist, founded Painting A New World, a non-profit organization. Through the sales of our artwork, we support artists in Kenya helping to create positive change in their community. We have sponsored 30 murals on school walls and community centres in Kenya, Tchad and Haiti. In 2020, Andre and I received the honour of being part of the ‘World Changers’ from The Healing Power of Art and Artists chosen by Renee Phillips, founder of Manhattan Arts International.”
