Andre Chatelain’s Artist’s Statement
“My medium of choice is oil on canvas. I love the richness, the feeling, even the smell of oil. I challenge myself with the old-master’s technique with a personal and contemporary touch. Our environment, our planet and our small portion of the Universe are current subjects of interests. I believe that art has the power to heal and create positive changes. I believe in humanity and will continue to paint with a positive vision of our future.”
“My favorite subjects to paint are the human body, life scenes and nature. I have been painting the beauties of Africa through its people hoping to change the generalized perception and transmit a lasting emotion to the viewer by showing a different aspect of this amazing continent.”
