About David G. Rickman: David G. Rickman is a contemporary impressionist painter, drawing and painting inspirations of his personal experiences in the southern coastal areas of Alabama and Florida.
Using beautiful complementary colors of thick textured paint to tell stories on the canvas, David invites the viewer to dive deeper into his experiences.

About his creative process David informs us that he begins each day painting on multiple canvases where he will add media textures and paint with various tools, as he discovers relationships between the colors and the unexpected.
His paintings develop “from dreams, memories, and travels, inspiring hope and beauty in the soul.”

Confronting his own personal struggles, David says, “I tap into a limitless source of creativity from the original Creator of the Universe. It is in those moments of co-creating that freedom is found and the work of art sometimes seems to create itself.”
David’s uplifting painting “Hope Within” was selected for the Manhattan Arts International “Love, Peace, Unity & Hope” 2025 Invitational Online Exhibition because of its powerful spiritual message and positive impact on viewers.

His painting “Beyond the Blue”, shown above, is presented on this website in “Art With the Magical Color Blue by Contemporary and Historical Artists”.
His art has been curated into “The Healing Power of Color” juried exhibitions presented on this website. In 2024 David’s painting was featured in “The Healing Power of Art Inspired by Nature” Invitational Exhibition and in 2022 he was one of the artists in “The Healing Power of ART: Resilience” an exhibition with the purpose of bringing positivity, healing, and hope during the Pandemic.

David studied fine art and marketing at Memphis College of Art. He has won numerous awards for his paintings and design work in galleries and in the marketing industry and has shown in many galleries throughout the United States including galleries in Scottsdale, AZ, Orange Beach, Fairhope, Foley, AL and New York City.

David lives and works in LA (Lower Alabama) with his wife, Sandy. In his free time, you will likely find him exploring the coastal beaches in his area.
David G. Rickman’s Artist Statement: “I’m seeking to create something that will flood our heart, mind, and soul with a sense of hope and excitement! My art helps me to work thru difficulties and promote a sense of soul healing for myself as well. My process of co-creating with the Creator is a spiritual and therapeutic experience that promotes healing internally.”
“One of the main areas that I’m passionate about are ‘Healing Arts’ projects that integrate the arts with healthcare and the well-being of people. It’s such a great way to communicate and help others in so many ways.”
Fascinating Facts About David: “I grew up in a family of artists. I followed in the footsteps of my grandfather, who was a published cartoonist in the 1950’s. After college I drew editorial cartoons for newspapers and cartoons for national magazines. I started painting in college but wanted to try my luck with cartoons.”
