A popular one is nature.  Our  online art exhibitions “Art Inspired by Nature”, The Healing Power of ART Inspired by NATURE”, “The Healing Power of ART In Honor of Nature” and  “Our Bond With Nature” have raised awareness about our magnificent natural world and our need to honor, protect and preserve it. We always include art and statements by contemporary artists.

“There is only one kind of painting: landscape. It is the most difficult. It has also, I believe, the most simple kind of composition. Because no one can stop us from imagining the world in the way that pleases us most.” ~ André Derain, French painter and sculptor associated with the Fauve group of artists.

“Everything that is dead quivers. Not only the things of poetry, stars, moon, wood, flowers, but even a white trouser button glittering out of a puddle in the street… Everything has a secret soul, which is silent more often than it speaks.” ~ Wassily Kandinsky

“There is a pleasure in the pathless woods, / There is a rapture on the lonely shore, / There is society, where none intrudes, / By the deep Sea, and music in its roar: / I love not Man the less, but Nature more.” ~ Lord Byron

Dear Renée, this is a wonderful collection of inspiring quotes. Thank you for putting this together.

I’d like to add one of my favorite quotes that’s not directly about nature but about people and the world in general. It’s attributed to Anaïs Nin but the origin is the Talmud:

“We don’t see the world as it is, we see it as we are”

I think this is so true, especially for artists, as we bring what we have within to our art.
