Maureen McCabe’s Artist Statement
My paintings explore light, space, and energy to address the subtle mysteries of the universe.
In my luminous abstractions, viewers will find impastoed topographies. I build each abstract landscape in a distinctive process that is freeing and healing.
Drawing on my background in the healing arts, I adapt techniques of massage therapy to apply and spread molding paste to create texture.
Using tools that I find in junk drawers and bargain bins; I sculpt peaks and valleys. I dance around each work in a rhythmic motion. Next, I start painting. Each panel takes the viewer to an unfamiliar terrain.”
Fascinating Fact About Maureen McCabe
People do not know this about me, but when I was younger, I wanted to run away and join the circus — so, I went to clown school. There I learned how to express myself through juggling, creating balloon sculptures, and other circus arts.
