Rina Rox is a contemporary abstract artist who was born in Kyiv, Ukraine and currently lives in Knokke, Belgium. She possesses extraordinary insight and aesthetic vision which she applies with a bold sense of innovation. Her range of creative attributes encompasses a skillful integration of color, texture, space and design.
Rina’s imagery conveys associations from both familiar entities as well as the mysterious unknown. She inspires us to explore, navigate and evolve within the world we inhabit and the state of consciousness beyond our physical sphere of reference.
Rina’s “Enigma” series reflects her inimitable ability to transport the viewer to spiritual, visceral, and universal realms. She employs a creative variety of planes, colors, grids, and more elements in a way that elevates them to a coexistence of contrast and harmony. Her superb orchestration of rhythmic movement is similar to intonations in musical composition.
“Enigma 4” is an example of how eloquently Rina employs stylistic variation. The calming, luminous, gradient background is reminiscent of Rothko’s color field painting technique in which colors evoke an emotional reaction. A glowing yellow square contains a plethora of gestural lines relating to automatism embraced by surrealists and action painters. This feature may also imply the energetic essence of living organisms and molecular matter that exists within us and nature.
Further, the powerful presence of the solid blue rectangle, a nod to Yves Klein, appears to float above the surface and increases depth and the illusion of three-dimensional space.
“Enigma #2” lures us into a mesmerizing meditative state. We follow the animated course of expressionist gestural linework across the light-colored spacious background.
Curvilinear and geometric patterns offer infinite passages of visual and emotive interest. The superb orchestration of rhythmic movement shares similarity with intonations in musical composition.
The dynamic accents of primary colors recall those of Mondrian as they leap from the canvas and anchor the directional forces and streams of consciousness.
“Spring”, from Rina’s new “Four Seasons” series, is a luminous creation composed of vertical and horizontal quadrants. Subtle alterations of colors create a sense of stability, balance and tranquility. The horizontal band in the lower portion of the canvas with organic forms and tactile animated brushwork exudes visual space and depth.
Rina’s versatile and prolific artistic vision and desire to bring healing to viewers pave our endless journey toward mindful awareness.
