Romeo Varga is a contemporary artist who is making an indelible mark on art history. He has taken giant steps forward with innovative artistic vision. His art conveys profound insight into humanity and resonates on an individual and universal level.
The art shown here is from Romeo’s new and growing “Relinquish”, “non-finito” (“not finished”) portrait series. The riveting subjects represent distinctive archetypes and portray pivotal states of being. We immediately relate to each subject and it triggers our own visceral internal dialogue.
Through his “Relinquish” oeuvre Romeo masterfully interprets myriad relevant issues such as the impact of aging, social media, global events and the concepts of identity, stereotypes, and more. He exposes revelations about our beliefs, preconceptions, and the consequences of our roles and life choices.
In this series Romeo combines technical prowess and insightful intention in his use of digital fine art. Using his inimitable realistic approach, he integrates fully detailed elements with those that are purposely left undefined. He explains, “Through the intentional leaving of emptiness within the work, I have created the psychological space for you to construct your own story, ask your own questions, and even answer them too. You are the co-creator.”
Romeo’s adept juxtaposition of animated imagery, emotive symbolism, and references to mythology transport us through time. They awaken memories and aspirations and confirm that we inhabit an ever-evolving complex and mysterious realm of existence.
It is undeniable that Romeo’s compelling “Relinquish, non-finito” portraits raise our level of consciousness. His art, a catalyst for healing, guides us in our personal growth, self-awareness, and empathy for others. He inspires us to pause and contemplate renewal and acceptance on a physical and spiritual level. His message-driven narratives convey that we are all on a journey both individually and collectively.
Interestingly, “Non-finito” was an aesthetic term used to describe the unfinished works by Renaissance Masters Donatello, Da Vinci and Michelangelo. As an inventive contemporary artist Romeo has reestablished the phrase in a new context. He is also contributing to the annals of art history.
