Color affects our behaviors, moods, and thoughts. It has the ability to bring healing energy, soothe our frazzled nerves, motivate and empower us. In art the healing power of color is undeniable and far-reaching. Color (or hue) may be the first creative element an artist chooses and often the most distinctive quality we may notice about their art.
This exhibition “The Healing Power of Color”, April 4 – June 4, 2022, featured extraordinary art by more than 100 artists from around the world who create art using color to heal themselves and/or the viewer. Visit this page to see list of artists who were featured in the exhibition.
All artists who submitted their entries were judged on their art, statement, creativity, technical skills and their overall artistic direction as shown on their websites. Visit this page to read about our requirements and criteria for our exhibitions.

Mystic Horizons, cast acrylic, metal and wood, 16″ x 16″
I dance with color, and it sings to me. When I listen to music I sense and see colors. Color and music align our frequencies for optimal health. Mood is mediated by light and color. A slow rhythmic song may inspire the colors and mediums I use. A vibrant energizing palette sounds like jazz or rock and gets my body moving. Sense the sound when you view the paintings and let the frequencies of them wash over you. sandraduranwilson.com

Atmospheric Probabilities (yellow), pastel on paper, 30” x 22”
My most recent work, “Atmospheric Probabilities”, continues my interpretive response to the extraordinary colour and light that I experience daily in my immediate environment. My studio overlooks the beautiful South Saskatchewan River immersed in infinite sky and shifting atmospheric conditions. I spend a great deal of time observing the changing light and consequent colour interplay, particularly in the early mourning and late afternoon. My intention is to transcribe these observations into balanced celebratory images, where colour conveys a sense of lightness and healthful well being. psnielsen.com

Garden Tapestry, oil on canvas, 30″ x 30″
Colour plays a vital part in my paintings. I use analogous and complementary colours placing bright colour with softer tints to express positivity, energy, hope, and joy. Colour has a huge impact on how we feel, and when celebrated in a painting, it can bring a breath of fresh air into a room and uplift and inspire viewers. Colour speaks to my heart and mind and I my aim is to use it to bring happiness to others. andrearobinson.co.nz

Wonderful diversity in images and color help us understand how individual the process of healing is. How we need to connect beyond the surface, beyond the quick intellectual words from our brain. We need to stop, breathe, listen to the parts of us that don’t initially use symbols to understand, and when we are ready, let the connections flow.
Thank you for presenting these images and for allowing the artists to give us a context for their perspectives.
