Thérèse has lived in Ottawa for over 40 years. She worked in watercolor for over 18 years before taking up the challenge of abstract painting. Her art exudes a spirit of optimism and brings a sense of harmony and bliss to viewers.
While attending the Ottawa School of Art, she studied with local and international artists where she learned and adopted various techniques and approaches to color theory which she has used throughout her career ever since.
Over the years, Thérèse has won numerous prizes at national and international exhibitions, including a “Best of Show” in Ferrara, Italy. She also had the privilege of being chosen for an artist residency in Nice, France.
Her art has been selected for exhibitions on this website including “Inspirational Art in Mixed Media”, “Honor, Remembrance, Gratitude and Hope for Peace Expressed in Art”, ” and “Autumn”: Art by Artist Members and Artists from Art History.

Artist’s Statement:
My art portrays emotional “places” that are loosely based on the idea of a landscape. It is about emotion, about reaching deep down and touching the soul through a choreographed dance of color and light of acrylic and tissue paper.
What I love in abstract painting is its energy and its ability to speak differently to everyone. For me, abstract painting is all about pure energy and emotions that find their way onto the canvas. In my paintings, it’s not what you look at that will touch you, but what you see. The act of painting becomes a path of meditation, and each canvas is like a spiritual journey, a bridge to transport viewers into my world.
I hope my work inspires people to feel or look at things a little differently.
Interesting Facts About Thérèse Boisclair:
She enjoys outdoor life, in nature. She is an avid cyclist, golfer and was an avid downhill skier “before some health problems.” She states, “To be outside where I can enjoy the sun on my skin and commute with nature is where I really feel alive.”
